Well it has been a long long time since this page has been added to. Lots and lots of water under the bridge. The first trip to Australia is many years ago and there has been a trip to New Zealand and one more to Australia. Add to these trips to Costa Rica and Panama and shortly one to Nicaragua and you can see that we like to give our home-schooled son some geography.
Saw
several of these in the wild.
There have been tons of sporting events that the kid has either been in or spectated. He names soccer as his number one love tho he did well in baseball where he made the All-star team. He gave basketball a try and was on a very well coached team which did well too. He has given up on baseball but continues to ply his talents to the other two. He made the county U-14 soccer team and we have gotten to journey to many matches around the state.
Anne has gone over the ten year mark from her bout with breast cancer and so things look quite bright in that direction. Other than that, we all seem to be doing well in the health department aside from the usual aches and colds and the like. She has caught the gardening passion and spends great gobs of time burying cardboard in front of the house. Weed suppression. I will have to admit that it is starting to look pretty professional out there. The jungle is gone.
I (Buzz) continue to enjoy the fine game of chess. I returned to the game, after putting it aside for some years, when I thought that Ian would benefit from learning it. He is getting pretty good and has reached the number one rung on the ladder in the local Middle School Chess Club. Not bad for a third-grader. I continue to dodder along doing most of my playing on the ICC on the internet. Great fun playing with folks from all over the world. I stick a pin on my big map for each person I've had a game with. If you are a chess player and would like a game, look for 'hotglass' on the ICC late in the evening.
Another persuit has joined the ranks of what I like to do. Geocaching!! I got a GPS a few months ago mostly for hiking and discovered geocaching. An adult treasure hunt is one way to look at it. For those of you who haven't heard of it: geocaching is finding hiden little containers of goodies and logging your find. It has the added benefit of taking one to places that one might not have otherwise found. There are over 700,000 hidden around the globe so it will take some time to find them all. I asked that for my 69th birthday a few days ago, that we go out and find my number 69th cache. I was at 64 and that day we found 7 more and so my goal was attained. Look out 700K!!! Hehe. If you are interested in finding out more about this 'sport' go to Geocaching.com.
